Job Summary:

The primary purpose of the Unit Manager/ Treatment Nurse (RN/LVN) position is to participate in and oversee the wound care of Residents as prescribed by the attending physician, consistent with accepted standards of care and within the scope of RN/LVN training and licensure.

At times, this position will be responsible to provide care directly to the Resident and/or supervise the direction of this care by a Certified Nursing Assistant to ensure that the highest practical well-being is maintained by the Resident.

This is a permanent, full-time position with excellent compensation and company benefits.

Essential Functions:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services, assists in directing and coordinating the day-to-day functions of the nursing care to patients in accordance with state and federal rules, regulations and standard nursing practices.
  • Observes, assesses, treats and documents Resident’s wounds according to the Resident Care Management System – Skin, Federal, State and local regulations.
  • Ensures that preventative measures are utilized to prevent the development of pressure ulcers.
  • Assists in collection and documentation of data for Quality Assurance including the weekly Pressure/Non-Pressure Trending Reports.
  • Consults with Director of Nurses/Attending Physician regarding changes in Resident’s wounds/condition.
  • Receives, transcribes, and executes physicians' orders.
  • Ensures implementation of care plans to promote wound healing.
  • Administers medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Identifies and secures equipment and supplies for wound care.
  • Assists in assuring the essential weekly and/or monthly committee meetings are held in accordance with Clinical Policies and Procedures and Patient Care Management Systems (i.e. Skin, Falls, Restraints, Weights, Assessments, and Quality Assurance Committees.)
  • Conducts frequent rounds on a daily basis to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their essential functions in accordance with Clinical Policy and State/Federal guidelines and regulations. 
  • Assures that each patient's accident or incident is fully documented and reported in accordance with Clinical Policies and Procedures, Patient Care Management Systems and state/federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Assures that each patient's attending physician and family or responsible party is promptly notified of any significant change in the patient's health condition.
  • Take call periodically or as specifically needed by facility.
  • Contributes to the orientation and professional development of the nursing staff.

 

Job Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited nursing school and holds a current and valid RN /LVN license in the appropriate State
  • Minimum of two (2) years charge nurse and or supervisory experience in a long term care setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of current wound care treatments and dressings.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
